Description
The Domaine Les Astrelles Bourgogne Haute Cotes de Nuits Rouge 2023 is a fresh and elegant red Burgundy, showcasing the purity and finesse of Pinot Noir grown on the higher slopes behind Gevrey-Chambertin.
Domaine Les Astrelles is based in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, with vineyards cultivated predominantly across the Côte de Nuits and Hautes Côtes de Nuits. The estate has been certified organic since 2019, with many of its vines more than 50 years old.
The vineyard is planted on clay and limestone soils with large chalky pebbles, helping produce wines with freshness and elegance. Yields are carefully controlled throughout the growing season, while the grapes are harvested by hand and transported in shallow bins to protect the fruit.
In the winery, a minimal-intervention approach is taken, with low sulphur use and fermentation using wild, indigenous yeasts. The wine is then matured for 15 months in 100% French oak barriques, adding complexity while retaining its bright fruit character.
The result is a beautifully fresh Pinot Noir with pure flavours of raspberry and cherry, complemented by subtle spice and underlying mineral tones. Refined tannins provide structure, creating an elegant and balanced Burgundy with plenty of finesse.
