Description
The La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2023 is a rich and beautifully textured Californian Chardonnay, balancing ripe fruit and buttery complexity with refreshing minerality and concentrated acidity.
La Crema has specialised in cool-climate winemaking since its foundation in 1979. Fruit for this wine comes from the Sonoma Coast, where cooling Pacific winds, coastal fog and significant differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures allow Chardonnay to ripen slowly while retaining excellent natural acidity.
The grapes are harvested by hand before gentle pressing and cool settling. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, followed by approximately six months maturation on the lees with regular stirring to build texture and complexity. French and American oak are used, with only a small proportion of new oak, adding subtle richness without overwhelming the fruit.
The nose is bright and expressive, with aromas of Meyer lemon and white flowers complemented by a gentle hint of oak. On the palate, the wine is lush, creamy and buttery, balanced by refreshing minerality and concentrated acidity that provide freshness, depth and structure.
A generous yet elegant Sonoma Coast Chardonnay that combines classic Californian richness with the freshness of its cool coastal origins.
