Description
Rosato 2023 is a natural wine crafted by SRC, on the Mount Etna volcano in the Sicily region in Italy. This RATHER WILD Rosé wine is made with mostly Nerello Mascalese, as well as a blend of traditional Etna field blend varieties like Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante, Minella, Trebbiano, Catarratto, Sangiovese and Grenache grapes, vinified without any added SO2 (sulphites)
The grapes come from vines rooted in volcanic soils at roughly 650–1,000 metres altitude. The grapes are destemmed and pressed after around 6–7 hours of skin contact, then the free-run and pressed juice ferment together in stainless steel. No added sulphur.
As for the flavour, this Rosé is pretty PUNK ROCK. Edgy, wild, vivacious with expressions of balsamic strawberry, vanilla, herbs… and mild petrol. Not a wine for everyone, and certainly one with an attitude.
